Welcome

In 1980, the Double Adobe Quilters held their 1st quilt show at the Double Adobe CampGround. Back then it was called the KOA. Maryann Fairchild owned and operated the KOA. She wanted an activity for her winter visitors at the camp ground. She started holding quilting bees once a month.

It didn’t take long for the “quilting pox” to spread. Not only did the winter visitors want to quilt, women from Bisbee, Douglas, McNeal, Pearce, Sunsites, and Elfrida came to quilt. One man from the KOA also wanted to quilt: Hugh Pendergrass. Hugh was an active quilter from the start until his passing a few years ago.

Maryann Fairchild, founder of the Double Adobe Quilters, passed away in August of 2008.

The only active member from the 1st quilt show is Mary Price, 83, of McNeal.  She remembers the first show and tells the quilters, “ At the first show we had one quilt we displayed on a pool table at the KOA”.

The quilters have been busy this year making quilts to be donated to fire victims or hospitals. Receiving quilts were the Copper Queen Hospital and Gift Shop, The Hacienda Rehabilitaion and Care Center, Elfrida FFA, Elfrida Library and Casa Colina Assisted Living.
