Double Adobe Quilters Donate Quilts
On December 22, 2010, the Double Adobe Quilters showed that they are scrappy, resilient, a cut above, and made of tough fabric. Even though all of their supplies and some completed quilts had been destroyed in the fire in June, due to the generosity of the surrounding community and quilting groups from around Arizona, the Quilters were able to complete and donate lap quilts to the Copper Queen Hospital. For the last 5 years, the DAQ has made and donated lap quilts to the Copper Queen Hospital and Gift Shop, The Hacienda Rehabilitaion and Care Center, Elfrida FFA, Elfrida Library and Casa Colina Assisted Living.
Jean Brooks from Bisbee sent the Quilters a special note and a donation in memory of her mother Virginia Brooks. She said,"You gave a quilt to our mother when she was in the Copper Queen Hospital. She had it until she passed away.”
If you have pictures of the past from the years the Double Adobe Quilters were at the Double Adobe Trailer Park (KOA), please contact Chris Upchurch at Quilters@DoubleAdobeQuilters.com. Ours were lost in the fire. She will be creating a scrap book.
